Maintenance Facilities

Equipment and shop cleanliness and organization are something that set the bar high. Break rooms and kitchen areas for staff, housing for interns and entry level assistants, conference rooms and office space are somethings that help craft the operation and raise the standards to the next level. Mechanic bays and self contained wash areas are also very important to day to day operations.

Mowing and Rolling

Greens: Mowed daily, walk mowed, the use boards to prevent wear and tear

Tees, Approaches: walked mowed, occasional use of triplexes, mowed 3-4 per week

Fairways: mowed 3-4 days per week, triplex used for cleanups, 5-plex mowers

Rolling: will occur when necessary to smooth out the surface or to increase green speed on a given day

Rough and Surrounds: maintained at a 2-3 inch height for playability and pace of play

Bunkers

Bunkers will be raked on a daily basis. The presentation method used will be aussie-style to prevent plugged lies and traditional look. Algae will be managed by occasionally full raking bunkers to break up any build up. Depth checks will be done periodically to ensure consistency throughout each bunker. Bunkers will have a drainage liner system to prevent washouts and contamination. Bunker rakes will be placed outside the bunker on the outside edge with handles facing toward the tee.

Course Set Up

Pin locations: Pins will be changed daily to. Hole locations will be picked through a website called EZLocater which has the exact coordinates of the hole.

Tee markers: Tee locations will be moved daily. Markers will be placed 6 paces apart in a clean area.

Moisture Management

Greens: Greens will be hand prepped daily to provide a firm and fast playing surface. Turf personnel will monitor and apply water as needed in the afternoons during play. This will allow to keep the playability increased and provide the conditions the membership expects.

Fairways, Tees, Roughs: These areas will be spot watered with supplemental water from the irrigation system.

Plant Protectants

The goal is to provide the membership with great conditioning while striving for exceptional plant health. Plant protectants will be applied when needed on all playing surfaces. Turf personnel when applicating are required to wear proper personal protective equipment.

Data Collection

Data is collected daily to make informed decisions on maintenance practices and to provide metrics which can be shared to members. The use of the GS3 ball from the USGA on the Deacon platform allows us to track green speed, smoothness, trueness, and firmness through one device. Clipping yield and moisture content at different depths are also vital to the playability and decision making.
